Knowing what type of face shape really does matter in your desired look from haircuts, highlights, fitted glasss, and even how you style your hair day to day.

How do you determine your face shape?

Ask yourself these things 👇👇👇

What is the length of your face?

What’s the shape of your jaw?

What’s the widest part of your face?

Different types of face shapes;

Oblong - The brow bone, cheek bone, and jawline are approximately the same width, however the face is noticeably longer than it is wide.

For people with an oblong face it’s recommended to darken the hair at the forehead, highlight or lighten hair from the temple down to the jaw.

For haircut recommendation; Mid-length shapes work well. Keep hair full at sides with minimum height.

Oval - Considered the ideal face shape because it is longer than it is wide and appears balanced.

Color recommendation; Any hair color placement will work; try to avoid accentuating length with highlights

Haircut recommendation;

Most hairstyles work well. Avoid disrupting natural balance with styles or accessories.

Diamond - Distinguished by short, angular lines. Cheekbones clearly wider than the brow bone and jawline. Width of the face is more than 2/3 the length.

Color recommendation; Highlight at the temples and ears. Highlight or lighten at the forehead and jawline.

Haircut recommendation; Keep style narrow at the cheekbones, wider elsewhere. Add fullness at the crown and below ears to balance narrow angles. Avoid “bare” effects high at the sides, ears, and below.

Triangle - The jawline is significantly wider than the brow bone. The face shape becomes successfully wider from brow bone to cheekbone, to the jawline.

Color recommendation; Highlight or lighten hair color at the forehead; darken hair color from the ears down.

Haircut recommendation; short hairstyles work well. Create width in crown and parietal areas. Longer hair should be kept well below the jawline. Avoid fullness and the jawline.

Square - The brow bone, cheekbone, and jawline approximately same width, forming a straight (horizontal) line. The width of the face is noticeably more than 2/3 of length, creating the illusion of a short face.

Color recommendation; Darken hair color at the temple, forehead, and jawline.

Haircut recommendation; Maintain hair length below the jaw or longer. Asymmetric or uneven fringe and waves at the temples will soften square shape. Height in crown creates illusion of length. Avoid horizontal lines.
